CARDIFF UNIVERSITY
Spark Building & Centre for Student Life
THE RESULT.
After consultation with the stakeholder group over many months, a range of signage was agreed and designed be-fitting of the building architecture. Floor directories, level indicators, localised wayfinding and maps, along with individual room signage was all manufactured and installed within a 7 week period. External signage required planning consent and further structural calculations to ensure they could be safely secured to modern, aluminium clad fascia’s. Following successful completion of the above two schemes, DMA Signs continue to work with the university and have recently completed various other signage schemes, including the Transitional Research Hub located adjacent to the sbarc/spark building.
THE CHALLENGE.
DMA Signs successfully tendered for the wayfinding signage scheme. The scheme was complex, with signage required to identify and direct both students, visitors and start-up businesses that could rent office space within the building. This meant the signage not only had to be coherent with university brand, but tie in with the bold orange colour scheme. It also needed to be fully updateable, given the office spaces would be constantly changing occupants, all requiring specific branding for their organisations.
