UXBRIDGE COLLEGE
THE RESULT.
After showcasing a variety of ideas to improve the student experience, DMA Signs carried out the first phase of branding in key student pathways from college entrance to the IOT welcome area on the second floor. The vibrant and architectural images took inspiration from the equipment within the teaching rooms, to create vibrant imagery representative of their available courses. Student images were also used to counteract this with a more human side. Following the initial installation and positive reaction, the scheme is developing throughout other areas of the IOT, creating a seamless brand across multiple areas.
THE CHALLENGE.
West London Institute of Technology (part of Harrow, Richmond & Uxbridge Colleges), offers higher education courses at HNC and HND Level, specialising in technology based learning. Although they utilise cutting edge technology, their corridors and student areas were modern yet un-inspirational. The key challenge within this project was obtaining high enough resolution images to use on very large wall graphics. The solution was simple, photograph the equipment ourselves, turning industrial equipment into highly stylised unique wall artworks that create interest and curiosity to those entering the space for the first time. The colour coded lens effects helped harmonise the images and bring them in line with the colleges branding. This, along with student photographs, instantly lifted the corridors and stairwells creating interest in areas that were previously only used as a means to reach their destination.
